June had been a stellar month for us in terms of interest in our English books section. We’re hoping that by featuring these bestsellers, it would generate greater readership and conversations on current affairs and humanities. Following Prof Teo You Yenn’s Unease, we’ve seen an increased interest given to other Singapore sociology titles. Having won this year’s Pulitzer Prize in the Memoir/Autobiography category, Yiyun Li’s Things in Nature Merely Grow pulls pensive heartstrings with its topic on death and personal loss as a parent.
