Synopsis

A mother talks to her deceased son, trying to mend broken ties. A couple, two decades in age difference, strives to hold it together when one is struck down with a debilitating illness. A schoolteacher finds herself drawn to a mysterious woman during a trip to Penang. A young schoolgirl sends nudes to a male classmate, setting off a flurry of messy consequences. Incisive and evocative, these twelve new stories explore the harsh realities of life where love, loss, regret and guilt collide in strange, unpredictable ways.

About The Author

O Thiam Chin is the author of three novels and six collections of short fiction. His debut novel, Now That It’s Over, won the inaugural Epigram Books Fiction Prize in 2015. His work has appeared in Granta, The Cincinnati Review, Manoa, The Brooklyn Rail, QLRS, World Literature Today and elsewhere.
